Ira B. Tewksbury was a Private in Company E, 3rd New York Cavalry enlisted in February 6, 1864 during the Civil War of 1861-1865. He was taken
prisoner at the Battle of Johnson' s farm (also known as the battle of Darby
Town Road) on October 7. and imprisoned in Salisbury Prison where he died of starvation. His wife was Mary Jane Tewksbury (Poole)..
