STAFF BIOGRAPHIES
PRIESTS
Father Michael Conboy - Pastor
Father Conboy was ordained to the priesthood in 1962 for services in the Diocese of
Rochester. He has served in the diocesan administrative office (1969-78), and has had
three pastorates prior to accepting Bishop Clark's invitation to accept pastoral duties in
the Corning-Painted Post Area.
Father Michael Brown
The third oldest of six boys from a town on the west side of Rochester called Chili, he
entered Immaculate Conception Seminary at Seton Hall University in September of 1984.
Father Brown was ordained for the Diocese of Rochester on April 8, 1989 at St. Catherine
of Siena Church in Mendon by Bishop Matthew Clark. Assignments include St. Mary's in
Elmira, Sacred Heart Cathedral and he is currently serving as Parochial Vicar for the
CPPRCC.
Father Francis R. Davis
Father Davis was reared in Rochester, NY where he attended St. Andrew's and St. Bernard's
Seminaries and was ordained to the priesthood on March 17, 1945. His ministerial
assignments include service as: Assistant Pastor of St. Ambrose Church in Rochester,
Librarian and Professor of Literature and Sacred Eloquence at St. Bernard's Seminary, and
pastorates of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Elmira, St. Mary's Church in Dansville, and
St. Patrick's Church in Corning. Officially, Fr. Davis retired in 1990, but he remains
very active in his service as a Liturgical and Sacramental Minister to the Corning-Painted
Post Roman Catholic Community.
PASTORAL ASSOCIATES/MODERATORS
Sister Joan Cawley, SSJ
Sister Joan is the Pastoral Moderator for St. Mary's Church. A native of Rochester, NY,
Sister entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1957. She has been in Pastoral Ministry over
15 years and before that was in education both on the elementary and secondary levels.
Sister Joan has a Masters in Pastoral Ministry from Boston College and her area of
concentration was parish administration. 1996 was the year Sister Joan joined with other
new team members to begin her ministry in our area.
Deacon Ray
Defendorf
Since his ordination in 1982, Deacon Ray Defendorf has ministered to the parishioners of
St. Mary's and St. Patrick's, and, since 1990, to the Corning-Painted Post Roman Catholic
Community. His ministry include: service to the entire parish as pastoral associate with
special emphasis on communications and volunteers, and pastoral moderator of St. Patrick's
Church.
As a permanent deacon, he also is called upon to officiate at weddings, baptisms and
funerals. Deacon Ray has earned a Master of Theology degree from St. Bernard's Institute
in Rochester. He also holds a B.A. in Elem. Ed. from Buffalo State. Deacon Ray and wife,
Patricia, are the parents of three children.
Barbara Hesenius
Barbara's 25 years of service for the Lord have taken her to a variety of places and
ministries: elementary teacher in Illinois, New Hampshire, and New York City; pastoral
consultant in the Boston area; 16 months as an administrative assistant in an Arkansas
monastic community and retreat center; parish Director of Religious Education in Iowa; and
now Pastoral Associate and Pastoral Moderator at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Along the
way, she earned undergraduate and Masters degrees in Education and prepared for her
current ministry by earning a Master of Pastoral Studies degree. She has been involved for
over 19 years in Charismatic renewal activities and centering prayer groups, and enjoys
horseback riding, softball, swimming and travel.
Sister Mary Kay Ryan, SSJ
Sr. Mary Kay Ryan is a member of Sisters of Joseph of Rochester. She has been a
full-time minister in the Diocese for over 35 years as a teacher in Catholic schools, a
Director of Religious Education and now a Pastoral Associate and Pastoral Moderator at
Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Painted Post. She has earned a Master of Ministry
degree from Seattle University in Washington State.
FAITH FORMATION COORDINATORS
Mrs. Alene Goodman
Mrs. Goodman coordinates the parish's faith-formation programs for Senior and Junior High
youth, the Intergenerational Religious Education Program, the RCIA and RCIA for Children,
Confirmation preparation, and St. Vincent's Liturgy of the Word. Mrs. Goodman is a
certified by the Diocese of Rochester as a Coordinator of Religious Education. She has
been in ministry in this community since 1988.
Mrs. Mary Ann Hinkley
Mrs. Hinkley oversees the faith-formation programs at St. Patrick's and at St. Mary's,
serving our parish since 1989. She is a graduate of S.U.C. at Buffalo, earning a B.S.
Elem. Ed. degree. and was certified as a Religious Education Coordinator by the Diocese of
Manchester, NH where she worked for three years before moving to this area with her
husband Richard and their two children.
SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
Rose
Ann Ewanyk
Ms. Ewanyk the principal of All Saints Academy has been Director/Teacher of the St.
Vincent's Early Childhood program and the All Saints Academy Pre-school program since
1987. She previously taught kindergarten for nine years at St. Mary's School in Bath. Rose
Ann plays guitar and sings with her church folk group and is a member of the Tuesday Night
Session Players providing Celtic music for dancing and festivals.
BUSINESS MANAGER

James Quatrinni
As Business Manager of the Corning-Painted Post Roman Catholic Community, Jim
oversees the business aspects of supporting our ministry to about 3,100 families. This
includes such functions as: bookkeeping, payroll, recording donations, St. Mary's
Cemetery, secretarial functions, room scheduling, publishing the parish bulletin, and the
maintenance of buildings and grounds. Jim and wife Nancy have two daughters, Mikaela and
Marisa. He is an avid sportsman who loves to hunt, fish, bowl, and golf.
