Kiawah Island is unique among the barrier islands, unlike Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, or Ocean City Maryland, commercial development is virtually non-existent. This island was meticulously planned to be environmentally sound and aesthetically pleasing. A semi-tropical climate hosts alligators, sea turtles, bobcats and some very friendly dolphins.
All of the island amenities are within easy reach:
2 minute walk to the beach
1 minute walk to the Night Heron Park, for playground, pool and dining
2 minute drive to golf courses
2 minute drive to tennis courts
Along with over 40 miles of bike trails, there are five world-class golf courses, 35 tennis courts, a recreation center with a playground and an oversized pool, and 10 miles of the most beautiful beach on the Atlantic Coast! Other activities available on Kiawah include boating, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, shelling, fishing, sightseeing and plenty of wildlife viewing.

During your vacation, you'll want to spend at least one day in Charleston. Only 19 miles from Kiawah, Charleston is the home to many historic homes and buildings. Delightful restaurants, all allowing very casual dress, abound in historic Charleston.
