Denny Smith creates large drawings with pencils, ink and crayons. “For me, drawing is a very physical experience. I draw with my whole body, intensely, aggressively. Constantly moving from one end of a drawing to the other, I grind into the surface to create depth and luminosity. I color outside the lines."

"After a 28 year professional career I came to my senses in the recovery room after angioplasty. It is essential that I make art for the remainder of my life. It is the only thing that allows me to feel fully alive. (Well... there are a couple of other things, but you know what I mean)."

"Because my chosen career was in the fine arts (curator, gallery owner, etc.) I was not able to put away much of a nest egg. Purchases are encouraged, and appreciated.”
