2008 GETA Summer Doubles League
 
The 12th year of the GETA Summer Doubles League is now underway.  The first matches started on Thursday, June 5th and will continue through August 14th.  Matches are scheduled on Monday and Thursday evenings starting at 6:00pm at the Town of Elmira, EFA, and Southside High School tennis courts.  As in past years, there is are “A” and “B” divisions. 

Each team can consist of a maximum of four players (including a captain).  The team entry fee is $20.00 and each team member must also be a member of GETA.  Additionally any player 17 years old and younger will need to have a medical emergency form completed and turned into the league BEFORE he/she plays in his/her first match.
 
Teams finishing in the top four positions in each division will play in a season ending tournament to determine the league division champions.  The dates for the tournament are tentatively scheduled for Monday, August 18th (semi-finals) and Thursday, August 21st (finals).
 
Participation this year is the largest ever with 38 teams (over 140 players) battling it out during the summer.  Results from 2007:

Spin Doctors defeated Old-Lympians 6-2, 6-2
