Saturday, May 11, 2002. We finally get a start on resetting
some of the head stones at Whittemore Hill Cemetery. Owner and operator
of the backhoe is Kurt Brennan. Kurt owns Berkshire Hills Landscape Development.
He was hired here as a restoration consultant. His advice and help proved
to be invaluable. We would accomplish more on this day than we ever expected

Above we were setting the straps to lift the top of this 2 part stone. Here we are setting it on it base which we leveled earlier. That's Bill, Jason, and Frank man- handling the stone, Kurt on the backhoe and Nikki watching. |

We started in the back right hand corner by Henry and Elizabeth Mill's graves. This is in that area. This site even had the corner makers. You can see one by Kathy's feet back by the fence. We were able to set all 4 of them very near their original locations. All stones were reset where we found them lying. None were moved more than a few inches. |

This is along the middle of the right side. As you can see here the base to this stone is intact but the upright part is badly damaged. We reset what was practical. Here Kurt digs out a place for crushed stone as Jason, Tim and Barb look on. |
