FALL 2004 ANNOUNCEMENT
SCORPIONS BECOME FIRST NYWEST CLUB TO REQUIRE HEADGEAR

Click to see the Wall St. Journal Article

At the August meeting of the Board, the Scorpions voted unanimously to become the first club in NY West to require headgear of all players under age 14.  In return Full 90 has agreed to provide the headgear free of charge and we will also provide them free to players over age 14 if they agree to wear them.

It is VERY IMPORTANT for all players and parents to realize that the headgear IS NOT intended to be used to head a ball more frequently.  The ball flattens somewhat upon impact and the headgear will not likely reduce the effects of an impact from a ball.  It is intended to help reduce the chances of injury from accidental impact with an elbow, the ground or another player's head.  We are making every effort to protect your children with the best available technology.  If anyone becomes aware of further improvements in equipment, please contact us.
