Last Will and Testament of James Brown In the Name of God Amen I James Brown being in the ful Exercise of my Reason (but in a very Low State of Health) and Calling to mind the Mortallity of my body & Knowing it is ordered by God_for man once to Die---- 1stly I comit my love to God that gave it & my Body to the Dust to be buried Decently by My Executors--------- 2nd I give and bequath to my well beloved wife Hannah Brown all my stock & moveable Estate Except my money. & to Hannah to have the use of my money until my Sons Samuel & Aaron arrive at the age of twenty one years-------- 3rd I give & bequath to my Son John Brown-------the Sum of ten Shillings this together with what I have given him is his full Share and portion out of my Estate------- 4ly I give & bequath to my Son James Brown the sum of ten Shillings this together with what I have given him is his full Share & portion out of my Estate----------- 5ly I give & bequath to my Daughter Phebe the sum of ten Shillings together with what I have given her is her full share and portion out of my Estate.---- 6ly I give & bequath to my Daughter Hannah the Sum of ten Shillings together with what I have given her is her full Share & portion out of my Estate----------- 7ly I give & bequath to my Son Isaac Brown the sum of ten Shillings & the one half my wearing apearill together with what I have given his is his full Share & portion out of my Estate 8ly I give & bequath to my Son Daniel Brown the Sum of ten shillings & the other half of my wearing aperill together with what I have given him is his full Share & portion out of my Estate-- 9ly I appoint my beloved wife Hannah Brown & Isaac Brown my son to be my Executors to this my will & order them to pay all my jsut Debts out of my money & after such Debts be paid my wife to have the use of the Remainder of Money untill my sons Samuel & Aaron arrive at the age of twenty one years then money to be Equally Divided & given to my sons-----Samuel & Aaron-------- 10ly I order my Executors to give to my Daughter Hannah a certain note I Have against her of the value of four pounds--------- This I acknowledge to be my Last will and testement--- October the 10th, 1778 John fletcher Abijah Reed Jacob Taylor Hillsbourgh County Probate Court October 28th, 1778 The within named John Fletcher and Abijah Reed personally appeared & made Solemn Oath that they saw James Brown now Deceased sign Seal & heard him Declare this Instrument to be his last will and testament that at the time of doing the same he was to the best of their Discerning of sound disposing mind & memory that they together with Jacob Taylor subscribed their names together as witnesses at the same time in the Testators presence.
